Within art I have changed directions many times in what inspires me to create. I’ve ranged from portraits, flowers, fine line drawings and many more, but over the past couple years I’ve taken a deeper thought into my inspirations and looked at the more meaningful topics behind real life problems, mental health, the way things affect people’s perspectives and scientific manipulation on the brain.
When creating these pieces I tend to stick with painting and drawing as these mediums are what I’m most comfortable with and the most successful in, although I have tried other mediums and techniques over the years.
Previously I’ve concentrated on how colours show emotions and how they use this in films and photographs. This reels in their audience more and helps the human brain recognise certain emotions without them being clearly acted out in the films/photos.
But recently I have been looking at the isolation the Covid pandemic has caused and wanted to show the importance human interaction has on others and how socialising helps our mental state. Being forced to stay inside and limit your social interaction is inhumane and has clearly affected a lot of people around the world.
In my artwork I’ve wanted to show these emotions, and show the isolating feelings people are having due to lockdown rules.
